Team Leader Aged and Disability Services

  • Full-time, fixed-term (ending 30 June 2023)
  • Base salary package starting at $63,964
  • Total effective package: $71,454 (inclusive of leave loading and superannuation)
  • Based in Papunya community

MacDonnell Regional Council:

MRC was established in 2008 and its area covers our 13 major remote communities as well as many outstations. MRC employs over 500 staff, 370 of whom are the local Aboriginal staff.

The role:

The Team Leader is responsible for the support of the Coordinator Aged and Disability, to ensure the delivery of quality, culturally appropriate services to aged and disability clients in an identified community, and delivery of the School Nutrition Program.

Key duties:

  • Ensure services identified in individual client Care Plans are delivered to aged and disability clients
  • Undertake direct delivery of services to clients
  • Manage and respond to visitor requests
  • Report changes in clients to the local clinic and supervisor
  • Meet regularly with the local clinic
  • Liaise with schools to ensure appropriate delivery of School Nutrition Program
  • Liaise with Council Service Coordinator and other Council staff as required
  • Investigate address and report minor complaints
  • Welcome and support potential clients to understand our service
  • Develop and implement a daily work plan for the local home care team
  • Chair team meetings
  • Create and implement staff rosters and ensure leave processes are followed
  • Mentor home care assistants to develop skills in home care direct service delivery
  • Facilitate and participate in training and professional development including Identifying and reporting training needs of self and home care team
  • Actively contribute to the recruitment and performance management of staff
  • Ensure the home care centre is cleaned and maintained including reporting and following up on maintenance issues
  • Ensure daily service data is collected and reported
  • Oversee and submit food orders and deliveries
  • Conduct client assessments and create client files

Skills and Experience:

Essential

  • Current NT Drivers Licence
  • Current Ochre Card or the ability to obtain one
  • Current First Aid Certificate or the ability to obtain one
  • Satisfactory National Police Check
  • At least 6 months experience in a supervisory position in human services or hospitality field
  • Excellent understanding of client needs and family dynamics in a remote indigenous context
  • Certificate 3 level qualification in a related field or a willingness to complete
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally & linguistically diverse environment

Desirable

  • Safe food handling certificate and Domestic cleaning qualifications
