Contract Assessors Foster Care

The role:

OzChild is seeking expressions of interest from qualified Foster Care assessors to undertake Step by Step (Vic) competency-based foster care assessments.

The role is a contract-only role, paid per piece of work completed, so suits someone with flexibility, an ability to work autonomously and manage their own deadlines.

Our offices across the southeast and west require assessments to be completed.

Who we are looking for:

Passionate, driven and articulate professionals with experience in child protection or out of home care field. You will have a high-level understanding of trauma and its impacts on child development. You will have the ability to assess cultural awareness and suitability to care for First Nations children. You will have great personal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly and will have exceptional written skills, and the demonstrated ability to write high-quality Step by Step (Vic) Assessment reports.

What will you need?

  • Professional experience working with children and young people in the out-of-home care system
  • Professional experience writing Step by Step (Vic) assessments
  • Demonstrated assessment, analytical and written and verbal communication skills
  • Step by Step (2020) registration, and/or eligibility to obtain registration with Association of Children's Welfare Agencies (ACWA) OR Evidence of completion of Step by Step (2007) Familiarisation training
  • Availability to complete assessment interviews evenings and weekends
  • Capacity to work to tight timelines
  • Presentation of reports to accreditation panel
  • Must have access to your own phone, computer/laptop and internet access
