About the Role

Reporting to the Claims Manager, you will be responsible for delivering an informed, fair and timely claims management service to our brokers and their clients on a portfolio of Business Package claims. This includes the active relationship management with the broker network, Loss Adjusters, panel suppliers, internal UW areas and distribution team.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Receiving, recording and processing a portfolio of predominately Property Claims, with a small amount of low value Third Party Property Damage Liability Claims.
  • Interpreting policy coverage's and determining if coverage applies to claims submitted escalating issues as needed.
  • Setting reserves and authorising payment within scope of authority, settling claims in the most cost effective manner.
  • Handling of complaints and investigations of suspicious/fraudulent insurance claims notifying supervisor, arranging investigation and briefing solicitors if further action is to be taken.
  • Implementing and maintaining claims management strategies and objectives.
  • Working closely with and training new Claims Officers.
  • Providing information and feedback on claims activity and developing trends to underwriters/risk assessors to enable appropriate actions to be carried out.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of insurance guidelines, court decisions impacting claims functions, and policy changes and modifications and recommending changes to Company policies and procedures.

Ideally you will have:

  • At least 3 years claims experience including handling of property claims.
  • Some experience on Third Party Property Damage Liability Claims.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Strategic thinking ability.
  • Experience in dealing with a Broker Network.
